Embracing Quality in Automotive Software Development

ASQMS (Automotive Software Quality Management System) is a newly established standard dedicated to enhancing software quality management in the automotive industry. Developed by the China Association of Consumer Products Quality and Safety Promotion (CACPQSP), ASQMS is intended to address the unique challenges and opportunities presented by Software Defined Vehicles. The standard establishes requirements for robust management systems and processes that drive software quality throughout the entire vehicle lifecycle. This includes everything from development to deployment, operation, and maintenance.

ASQMS is tailored to address the unique needs of the automotive industry, focusing on both in-vehicle and off-vehicle software systems. It ensures that software quality management practices are robust and adaptable to the evolving technological landscape, thereby enhancing the safety, functionality, and user experience of automotive software systems.

ASQMS applies broadly to software across the automotive sector, covering OEMs and suppliers—including those providing components, equipment, and software tools. Its scope extends to both “in-vehicle” and “off-vehicle” software, encompassing client-side, roadside, field-side, and toolchain software used in development and operations.

PEDCO’s Involvement

ASQMS Deutschland GmbH launched the first global ASQMS 1st/2nd Party Auditor Training in April, 2025. PEDCO’s Peter Pedross and Sheila Schultz were honored to attend the training and passed the final exam. PEDCO is proud to be the first external global partner outside of China to be trained on this important new standard. PEDCO has also the global license to use ASQMS within its own AI-Tool PEDCO AuditPro.

This 1-day training aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the Automotive Software Quality Management System (ASQMS) standard and its application, with attention to lean-agile environments. The session will focus on the integration of ASQMS with modern software development practices and cover the utilization of AI to enhance quality management processes.
